The
co-operative Madonna dei Miracoli of Casalbordino was founded in 1960, thanks
to the commitment of 42 small grape producers. Their aim was to develop the
precious wine-growing production of the well-known local hills, where wine
has been carefully grown, with patience and devotion, since ancient times.
The winery, named in honour of the Madonna who appeared in Casalbordino’s
countryside in 1527, since then worshiped in the Sanctuary mentioned in D’Annunzio’s
literature, it counts, nowadays, 650 other local wine-producers, who cultivate
about 1400 hectares of vineyards.
